The Sipra River is also called Ksipra (Markandeya). It flows in the State of Madhya Pradesh. The river is famous for the sanctity associated with it.
According to the legend, the river has originated from the blood of Lord Vishnu. In the time of Mughal King Akbar (15th century), it was believed
that the river used to flow with milk. Probably this means that the region where it flowed was very prosperous.
